The holidays were certainly pleasant with a nice visit with Blaze, Onyx and meeting Forte, and then of course there was the very sweet Christmas Eve with Midnight and their exchange of gifts.

Vesper made himself comfortable on the floor of his room. Newspapers were scattered about and some watercolor paper taped down to some scrap board. He was eager to try out his new paints he got from Midnight.

There were a few smaller paintings set off to the side that Vesper didn't care for. It was something to get use to as watercolors were different.

His current attempt was fairing better than the others. A night time beach scene. He read somewhere that sprinkling some salt onto watercolor paint while it was still wet could help give the illusion of stars. It seemed to be working.

A smile was on his face, thinking about what the year ahead might bring.

It was quite obvious to anyone who glanced or passed by Vesper that Vesper was in a very good mood. He was dressed in warm winter clothing, making his way through the few and thinning crowds in Central District of Reality Vanish as he headed home.

Vesper had told Midnight that he needed to step out for part of the evening. He didn't explain why as the truth was he went to go pick up Midnight's gift. In his hands he carried a long and skinny gold box with red ribbon and bow.

Snow was lightly falling as Vesper finally reached home. He kicked his boots against the ground and went inside.

It felt a little strange to Vesper to be showing up to see Blaze and not have the visit be work related.

His clothing choices were a little more dressed than normal but certainly not over the top. Reds and blacks as the color pallet for his silk button up shirt and slacks. An odd choice for Vesper but he chose red to try and fit in to the holiday spirit.

When Vesper arrived he was carrying a large flat rectangle that was easy to guess would be a picture of some sort. Wrapped in plain brown paper with gold ribbon.

Vesper hadn't been home very long, but already he was fidgeting with things around the apartment. Mainly a pesky string of lights that he had up around the edge of the window. Simple and a tasteful white, but not very cooperative.

The whole time Vesper kept asking himself, 'How do people put up long strings of these things everywhere?'

A familiar jingle signaling incoming mail caused Vesper to work a little harder.

Finally, success!

Vesper took a seat and read over the email. He had to read over it a few times a bit surprise by one particular line in the email.

It made him feel uneasy.

First Vesper met with Blaze in the Nexus and then a few days later met with Onyx. After speaking with Onyx, plans were made for Vesper to check up on Blaze at a later date to see if he could help in some way.

He waited for Onyx to contact him before heading over to see Blaze. Vesper wasn't sure what to expect.

"So long, Caretaker."

There was no sarcasm in what was said. Soft words with some sadness. He turned on his heel and headed home.

After a few paces, Vesper's head sunk a little. Now watching the ground pass beneath his feet, it shouldn't be too long of a walk to get back home.

'My Creator gave me life. And for a period of time, a purpose. My Caretaker saved my life and taught me to feel and think for myself. Practically beating it into me.'

A flash of a smile.

'Now we only hurt each other. I did all I can do for him. He did the same for me.'

He came to his apartment door, unlocked it, and stepped inside. It appeared to be empty and for the moment, Vesper stood in the doorway looking around.

There was a smile on his face again. Home was good. And then there was Midnight. His most important person. His best friend.

'I keep losing those I care about.'

Vesper's smile faded. He believed Midnight would never abandoned him. He trusted Midnight when he said that. And Vesper knew, he would never leave Midnight.

The memory of living back at the Ijuuin residence together came back. Midnight was struggling with what to do and Vesper would tell him, 'I want what's best for you'.

The smile returned,

"If you left me, I think I would be okay with it."

There would have to be a good reason for it. Vesper would trust Midnight.

The sun was setting, giving the water a rich blue color. The crowds on the beach were thinning out but Vesper didn't move from his spot.

He was waiting for Midnight. Even though they lived together, they didn't see much of each other. Not as much as you might think for roommates. After chatting a little in the Nexus, the decided to make more of an effort to. And what better place than meeting at Seaside? Meaningful to both of them.

There was so much to think about. V2 was laying on his small futon in his apartment, just staring up at the ceiling. He had talked to several people about what had happened, sometimes the things people said seemed to help but sometimes it just stirred up other emotions.

There were so many emotions. Sometimes he wish he never learned how to feel.

Then, a realization.

All this wasn't only about protecting Enzan. No. It was making himself better. V2 wanted to become better. Enzan was who he was helping but Enzan wasn't the one asking V2 to do better. V2 was trying to get himself to do better because he wanted to. If it were only about protecting Enzan, then he would have simply broke contact with Blaze. Yes. V2 still wanted to do better, to become better.

With Enzan gone, that left himself.

Even if he had no one to protect, this was about proving himself. To himself. To no longer be in someone's shadow.

But now, there was one minor problem. With this, V2...or Blues?...headed to the Nexus.

Um, let's see. I found those guys again that taught me that kicking game. They wanted me to spend the day with them so I saw no harm in it.

There was a big festival going on! And they had all these live bands so that was where we were for the majority of the day. I didn't like most of the music but it was something to see. Weird people. One guy had piercings all over his face. And this guy I think had two tongues?

There was also a lot of different foods too. And there were sooo many people. I think I enjoyed watching the people the most. So weird. Some were dressed like dolls or something you don't see every day. Then a lot of people were dressed in all black and looked kind of scary.

One guy had really tall green hair.

I hate the beach.

Yup. It's not a beach! So different from Seaside. D: The beach is really just rocks. It isn't fun to walk on. And the water is ugly here. I don't see why there were people simming in the water. They had to wear something covering most of their bodies (I asked one and he told me it is to help keep him warm. Weird.) and it isn't fun.

I don't like the beach here.

There is always something going on here. Always. I don't have to "sleep" exactly so I didn't and there is always something going on!

I found a little place underground. A lot of people were there so I decided to wander through. It was so crowded. Hard not to be rubbing against someone. There was loud music playing, but you couldn't tell where it was coming from! Some people were dressed in unique outfits. The kinds of things you might see on Sci-Fi movies. And there were people dancing in cages that were hanging from the ceiling.

I don't understand that.

I talked with these three girls. I was trying to explain to them where I am from but not in the whole "I am from another world" thing. Lucky for me they know a place called Japan so I was able to say I was from there.

I hope that the Japan I know is similar to the Japan they know.

Either way they were acting all silly. They kept wanting to buy me drinks! Their drinks taste better than the ones Videoman and I had and a WHOLE LOT better than what I was given in the nexus. There was one I wouldn't drink. I had to do something funny I guess and I wasn't comfortable with that.

They just giggled at me and said I was cute that I wouldn't do that. One girl, she had pink hair, showed me how to dance! It was fun.

I lost track of time as when we all left the sun was coming up! It was really pretty even with all the buildings in the way.

I found a park and had fun watching some kids playing. I was sad to see some people were sleeping on the ground though.

Oh! At the park, there was a cute little dog. All fuzzy and black. She really liked me.

Next to the park was another place that was connected underground. I don't understand. Don't people have enough room with all these tall buildings? You wouldn't think they would have to go underground too. But there was a lot of flowers and a lot of people. And fish. I remember fish.

Since there was so much fish, I asked around to see how close to water we are. I guess we are really close. So I asked about some beaches and some kind people told me how to get there. I plan on trying to find it but I have plenty of time.

I'm on vacation! I found a world that is a little similar. I mean, there aren't giant lizards walking around or anything.

Everything is really close together. All the buildings. And it is really tall. Oh! And there is a cafe for Navis I think. I thought that was interesting. And there are soooo many people. I can't believe how many people there are. And some are interesting looking.

I met a couple of people and they taught me this game where you kick a little bag around. They said you can play with points but they just have fun without keeping track. I am actually pretty good at it! I didn't drop it once. They were all impressed.

So much has happened to me.

I started to get worried about Blues. I thought the longer he is away from wherever it was that he came from, that Blaze would look for him. So I went into the Network and cleaned up traces of him. I ran into some trouble and got captured by Blaze himself.

He did a lot of horrible things to me. A lot of horrible things. My Navi symbol on my chest is damaged.

But through it all, I tried not to let it get to me. It was all so painful, but, I don't know how to explain it.

I almost broke down when I found myself all alone. I mean, there was another Blues. Blaze's original Navi. He had been damaged by something called Gospel. But I eventually left to try and find a way out...and I started to fear I would never get free.

Then Shuuseki, Dark Blues, and Enzan who was crossfused with Blues showed up. That's was when it got painful. Blaze was able to control me and tried having me kill Enzan. I pleaded with Enzan to kill me but he wouldn't.

I don't blame Enzan for not trusting me. I wouldn't be able to do it if the roles were reversed.

He attacked Blaze, and got him pretty badly. Seeing how Blaze's original Navi acted and reacted to the body...

I don't think Blaze was dead. Maybe he was dying but he was not dead.

And then Enzan left me.

I was all alone. Unless you count Blaze and his Navi. He just left me.

I shouldn't be surprised. I mean. Enzan came to save me. And he did that. I shouldn't expect anything more than that. He gave me a means to get home. So I did. And Blues came to visit me. That was nice. I will explain his situation later when I understand it better. And finally after some time I got some help.

Enzan went to the hospital. I got myself to apologize for being selfish. And for being upset with him leaving. But, even though I am not upset anymore...

I hurt so much still. I think I need to go...somewhere. For a little bit.

I got some Christmas gifts. I wasn't expecting anything so I had nothing to give in return. Now I need to come up with some things but I have NO idea!

Well. Not true. I have one idea. And it is funny but I have a better idea for Dark Blues than I do for Enzan. I don't know why Dark Blues got me something. And Enzan didn't have to get me anything. I have a lot of art supplies now.

On a different topic, I have been fixing up my room. I found a nice bedroom set with really dark wood, and I have white sheets for the bed. The bed is real low to the ground, small, and simple. Oh! And I painted the walls a blue color. Then a darker blue for trim, and a pale green for the ceilings. I hope it isn't too bold for Shuuseki. Though, if he asks, I will paint over it. It isn't hard painting walls really.

I would like to get black curtains and an art desk. Right now I have been using the floor.

I haven't been drawing much lately.

We moved to a new house. We each have our own room. Shuuseki doesn't seem to like how close Enzan is to all of us. And at first I was a little uncomfortable having a room to myself. But I am going to decorate it. I have some money, it will be like a bit art piece, that I get to live in.

I guess something happened between Enzan and Dark Blues. Again. He won't tell me about it and I know Blues wouldn't say anything either. Nothing helpful anyway.

I really don't feel like going into detail about the stuff that happened. I will say there is a new Blues staying with us now. He's stuck in a copyroid. I have to do some research about that. I know they existed in my home world but I never experienced one. They never came into my creator's line of work.

Blues seems to have a lot of problems. Some of the things he said I can sympathise with which makes me want to help him. I know Enzan will. He's helped me. Blues has this weird thing that happens, he changes forms. Enzan suggested maybe a Dark Soul? But then I don't understand why Blues isn't like that more often or all the time. He usually collapses after everytime it happens. The first time I saw it happen he woke up shortly. The second time, well, he didn't wake up for a few days. We eventually got him to wake up. I ended up yelling at him.

I went to the Nexus and saw something weird. People around this plant and kissing each other. I didn't understand but two people were willing to help me understand. One was, er, I don't know who they are. Then there was Kaa. He was most helpful. I have to do some research on this plant-kissing thing though.

I miss Blues.
